Motherhood is one of God’s most profound gifts—beautiful and life-giving, yet stretching and refining in ways we never quite expect. It binds women together across cultures, across generations, across time itself.
Whether through shared joys or quiet sacrifices, there is a deep, unspoken understanding among mothers: this vocation asks everything of us. And yet, somehow, it gives even more in return—shaping our hearts, enlarging our capacity to love, and drawing us into a deeper participation in God’s own creative and nurturing work.
In the midst of both the tenderness and the trials, we are not meant to walk this path alone. As Catholic mothers, we turn to Jesus Christ, who sanctifies our daily offerings; to Mary, our mother in Heaven and our guide for motherhood; and to the saints—holy women who have lived, loved, sacrificed, and persevered before us. Their lives remind us that motherhood, in all its forms, is a path to holiness. Today, as we honor this vocation, we also lean into the communion of saints, drawing strength from those who intercede for us and walk with us still.
With gratitude and joy, we share the Litany of Mommy Saints, a beautiful prayer by Kelly Guest, that invites these holy mothers to pray for us in our own calling.

Let us pray:
Lord Jesus, we praise you for the gift of motherhood. Help us to follow the example of your own dear Mother, who did all things for love of you. Send us the graces we need to love and serve you through our families. And thank you, Lord, for the blessing that our children are to us and to the world. May they grow in wisdom and stature and grace before God and man. Amen.
